Sail the Bahamas
Books, beach, fishing and more
We started our day with a wonderful breakfast thanks to Mr. Bob. Next was completing the mission to deliver books to the local school. Mr. Domonic Sweety, principal of Louise McDonald High School welcomed our group to his school and introduced our students to faculty and students there. We had a wonderful time sharing an … Continue reading
Picnic, Museum and Conch
Today is Easter Monday, a Bahamas national holiday. We had a picnic with our Bahamian friends from Wesley Methodist Church in Alice Town. We also toured the Dolphin House, Bimini’s museum, hand built by Ashley Saunders. Afterwards, the crew took the dinghy to Conch Island in search of Conch shells. We’re spending two nights at … Continue reading
Snorkeling in Bimini
We had a slow morning as we each woke up to a new day after a rough crossing. We didn’t eat much yesterday, but we made up for that today! Mr. Bob made a breakfast of eggs, bacon, toast, waffles, juice, and coffee. Lunch was baked chicken breast sandwiches, chips, etc. For dinner, we went … Continue reading
Morning in Bimini
After a nice breakfast, thanks to Chef Bob, we’re sorting out the boat and testing the dinghy.
Underway from Port Largo
We carefully secured everything for the Gulf Stream crossing. The wind is brisk, but the boat and our crew are strong. We got underway at about noon, made a stop at the fuel dock, and are now underway toward the Bahamas. We’re heading out to Molasses Reef and the will make the turn towards Bimini. … Continue reading
Aboard Blue Moon
We’re all provisioned and now aboard the boat!
All the way to Key Largo
We made it safely to KeyLargo – a long but smooth journey. Mr. Bob and our crew are in the grocery store stocking up on provisions.
Fort Pierce
We’ve stopped at the St. Lucie/Ft. Pierce travel plaza on the Florida Turnpike. Some of us are patronizing Earl of Sandwich, “The World’s Greatest Hot Sandwich.” Others hit up Wendy’s. We’re about 3 1/2 hours from our final destination, Key Largo.
On the road again!
We ate breakfast while rolling. We’ve stopped for a swim at Fanning Springs.
Safely to our overnight destination
We’re settled in for the night in Lamont, FL just east of Tallahassee. A nice drive the whole way. Our crew is well fed and ready for sleep.
