Day 9 – Hoffman’s Cay

Wow! What a beautiful place! Hoffman’s Cay is amazing. We anchored in a calm spot nestled in between several Cays offering protection from the wind and sea. We swam in the Blue Hole on Hoffman’s all morning, then fished and paddle boarded in the afternoon. That night, we built a little campfire on the beach.

Day 8 – Voyage to the Berry Islands

It was pretty much an all-day trip covering about 100 miles to the Berry Islands. The route we took was across the Great Bahama Bank. We stopped at Chub Cay at the south end of the Berry chain for fuel and water. We then proceeded to Hoffman’s Cay for the night. It was a long day, but one that will be well worth it when the sun comes up tomorrow!

Day 7 – Honeymoon Harbor, Swimming with Dolphins, and Preparing for Voyage to Berry Islands

Today we spent the morning at Honeymoon Harbor hand-feeding the stingrays, paddle boarding, and otherwise enjoying a beautiful anchorage. Danielle got really good and cleaning conch. In the afternoon, we set sail northward in search of dolphins. We swam with dolphins for quite a long time in the area of Moselle Bank, and then went to the north end of Bimini to anchor for the night. Our plan is to leave at 4 AM for the Berry Islands.

Day 5 – Great day in Bimini

We spent the night at anchor in the lee of the island. It was very smooth. This morning everyone took a dip in the ocean. We cleared Bahamian Customs and Immigration. We then dinghied in to the island near C.J.’s Delli. We had a delicious lunch there. After that, we motored Adagio in to Big Game Marina. We did some exploring around the island and some collected conch. Danielle made her famous pesto pasta for dinner, this time topped with fresh conch. Our good friend Hugh Rolle came and visited us tonight. It was great catching up.

Day 4 – Manatee

Before departing Key Largo, we saw a manatee in the harbor. Apparently they love fresh water from the hose!

Day 3 – Arrived in Key Largo

We had a great night at the Roadrunner RV Resort in Ft. Pierce. It sure was nice being only 3-4 hours away from Key Largo. We stopped at Winn Dixie as we came into Key Largo and stocked up on groceries. We are anticipating some serious eating on this trip! After that, we ran over to Diver’s Direct to pick up some snorkeling equipment and otherwise just check out that awesome store. Imagine a Walmart-type store dedicated to just dive gear. It is amazing. We are on Adagio right now dockside with all our gear aboard. We’ve eaten a little food and are listening to some Spanish reggae music on the vessel’s sound system. We just updated our Customs online float plan with our Small Vessel Reporting System numbers – totally worth the effort getting that for everyone. We’ll be casting off sometime tomorrow morning…
